Ben was very excited when he finally won Kelly over to live with him. However, the S. B. Team responded differently to the news. Carman who fancied Ben all along was not pleased with it at all. Joe was warning Ben about how women would want their men to be ready all the time and how they would pry into the lives of their men, but Ben simply shrugged the advice off. Ben's boss Sing who stressed the independence of the S. B. Team did not favour the idea of co-habitation. Forbidding them to talk about their work with others, Sing highlighted the importance of drawing a line between romance and work. One day at the request of C.I.A. in the States, Sing put the team on a secret mission to extradite two Taiwanese insurgents, who hid in a hotel in Hong Kong. At the same time the news of dissolving the team before the British retreat came and got Ben and the others worried. Sing tried to cheer them up and motivated them to complete this "last mission". The secret mission began when the team at Sing's command controlled every exit in the hotel. Breaking into the suspected room, Ben could not fing the suspect Lee Kwok Chung. Just then Lee and his accomplices ran out from chaos, Lee and his accomplices tried to break out in three directions. Ben chased Lee up to the roof where there was no way to escape. So, Lee turned and fired at Ben who had no place to run for shelter. Fan's Review ML - Chilam look very good in this, i must say..... & this show is one of his nicest shows. Lotsa gunfights & though he acts as a police ( AGAIN !! ), it is still a very exciting show, especially towards the end. There are some very romantic moments in the show of Chilam and Carmen. The most talked about scene should be that of the bathtub scene. JMF - The third in Gordon Chan's series on law enforcement squads in Hong Kong. This one starts out focussing on the SB (Special Branch) led by Anthony Wong that is a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE type squad of elite police. Like THE FINAL OPTION, we see much of the members home life, especially that of team member Julian Cheung, and the strain the job causes on his relationship with his girlfriend Carman Lee, who has just moved in with him. When tragedy strikes the team, the S.B. unit is disbanded and the members try out for the G4 branch, who turn out to be sort of like the secret service. Not only is Julian's relationship in trouble, but he is involved in a love triangle at work where colleague Monica Chan adores him, and his other colleague adores her. Everything comes to a head a big finale. The script for this movie is a much more solid effort from Chan Hing-Kai than what he did with FIRST OPTION. The character development is deeper and the speculation on what drives a policeman is not as silly as it was in the previous film. Michael Wong makes a thankfully brief appearance playing essentially the same character. The two main drawbacks of the film are the sudden change in focus from the SB to the G4, and the somewhat lacking acting skills of Julian Cheung. He comes across as just a plastic victim, never taking charge of his life or seeming sure of what he's doing. I certainly don't buy him as an elite law enforcement agent. But at this point, I'm just happy not to see a repeat of the FIRST OPTION disaster.
